The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) joins forces with the BioCatalogue

The NCRI Informatics Initiative and the BioCatalogue have joined forces with the aim of making research resources more accessible to the biomedical research community. The collaboration has seen the integration of the BioCatalogue into the NCRI Informatics Initiative’s resource and information discovery portal, ONIX (Oncology Information Exchange) using the BioCatalogue APIs.

This means that now, not only can ONIX users simultaneously browse the content of the ONIX Resource Catalogue (a collection of cancer-related resources) and the caBIG® Service Directory, they can also browse the wide range of services within the BioCatalogue.

The collaboration also enables the BioCatalogue to extend into the cancer research community and thus create awareness of the new, innovative resources that it provides which may be of use in the analysis, mining and discovery of cancer research data.

The future of the collaboration between the NCRI Informatics Initiative and BioCatalogue has great potential in creating an information and resource discovery hub for researchers and technologists that will make the information retrieval process more efficient.
