ELIXIR Tools registry 'community paper' published in NAR

The BioCatalogue is pleased to announce the publication of 'Tools and data services registry: a community effort to document bioinformatics resources.' BiodiversityCatalogue presents development of Web Map Service support at TDWG

The sister site to the BioCatalogue - the BiodiversityCatalogue - presented new features at TDWG this year. BioCatalogue Rails 3 Upgrade

BioCatalogue has undergone a major upgrade to Rails 3 and Ruby 1.9, in addition to a number of bug fixes. Some of the new features include: a new and faster search engine, exporting services as a spreadsheet for curation and UI tweaks.

Soaplab EMBOSS services end of life: 31st January 2013

The soaplab emboss service-set from the EBI will be decommissioned from Feb 1st 2013 (see here for more details: http://www.ebi.ac.uk/Tools/webservices/soaplab/overview). Some of these services have been reimplemented as part of the main EBI web services collection (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/Tools/webservices/about/webservices). If you use other soaplab emboss services, you may want to consider hosting your own set.

KEGG WSDL/SOAP services end of life: 31st December 2012

KEGG will be moving from a WSDL/SOAP interface to REST. The WSDL services will be decommissioned on the 31st December 2012. Details of the new REST services can be found here: http://www.genome.jp/kegg/rest/keggapi.html

BioCatalogue Scheduled Downtime 14th August 2012

The BioCatalogue will be unavailable from 0830 BST on August 14th 2012. This downtime is required so that we can install a major upgrade to the BioCatalogue software. We will endeavour to keep the disruption to an absolute minimum but the upgrade is likely to take several hours. Please consider the service to be at risk until at least 1500 BST on that day. Many DDBJ web services unavailable until further notice

Please be informed that there will be NO downtime of BioCatalogue on the 7th of December 2010 as previously announced. BioCatalogue is now expected to be live all day on the 7th, meaning you do not need to make any special arrangements with respect to using BioCatalogue on that date.
