Functional Units: Abstractions for Web Service Annotations
"The work presented in this paper stems from the observation that current annotation models force users to think in terms of service interfaces, rather than of high-level functionality, thus reducing their effectiveness. To alleviate this problem, we introduce the Functional Units (FU) as the elementary units of information used to describe a service. Using popular examples of services for the Life Sciences, we define FUs as config...

myExperiment is a sister project of the BioCatalogue - it provides a web 2.0 repository for sharing scientific workflows and other research objects, with social networking elements. If you've not used it, check out
http://www.myexperiment.org/ and
http://wiki.myexperiment.org.
We're just commencing the first part of an integration between myExperiment and Biocatalogue - this will make it easy for myExperiment users to access service information, navigating to BioCatalogue for further detai...

the BioCatalogue. The purpose of this study is to investigate how
BioCatalogue is being used and to gain an understanding of what users
like about using BioCatalogue.
Your responses to the study will provide us with valuable feedback and
aid in ongoing improvement of the BioCatalogue and its services.
It should take you less than 10 min to complete the survey.

We have released a brand new "Search by data" feature. It allows
you to query for services that might analyze or process a given real
data. For example, given a Fasta file, it returns a list of services
that possibly consume sequences in Fasta format.
To access the feature go to:
www.biocatalogue.org/search/by_data
or click on a drop-down button just on the right site of "Providers" link.
We would appreciate any suggestions or comments which will help us to
improve this feature.
