Login to add a documentation URL Description(s): Hamish McWilliam (8 months ago)Similar to PSI-BLAST, PSI-Search uses SSEARCH to perform a rigorous Smith & Waterman search of a protein database. From the results, the significant hits are used to create a position-specific scoring matrix (PSSM) profile using NCBI blastpgp. The profile is then used to perform the search in subsequent iterations allowing the detection of distant evolutionary relationships.
